Client Classes

The OUR Center offers a variety of client classes. Please see the list below for class offerings:

Nutrition Classes

This class is offered to any client currently receiving food assistance from the food pantry. Participants are encouraged to cook nutritionally, while stretching their food budget to cover their family's basic needs. Participants receive food supplies to take home and replicate the recipes at the end of each class. The also obtain incentives for completing the entire five-week course, such as kitchen gadgets and gift cards. The OUR Center partners with the University of Northern Colorado Nutrition Internship Program for this activity.

Self-Sufficiency Classes

This program is designed to provide practical, educational and inspirational support to break the cycle of homelessness with persons who are on the verge of homelessness or moving out of homelessness. Each class focuses on an aspect of developing a life plan with realistic and tangible goals to prevent future homelessness.

Getting Ahead Classes

Getting Ahead is a program which, through 15 class sessions, facilitates a process for people from poverty to investigate the impact that poverty has had on themselves and their community and to use this information to build resources for a better life and community. In Boulder County, participants received a cash incentive for participating. Dinner is served at the sessions and child care is provided.

Financial Management Classes

This is a six-week Financial Literacy Course that develops skills in managing money, opening bank accounts, interpreting financial information, and managing credit. The OUR Center and Intercambio Comunidades are partners in conducting the class.
