Urgent Volunteer Needs

We have the following urgent needs for volunteers, perhaps one of them would be a fit for you or someone you know (must be 16 or older to work on site):

Day Shelter Pantry Workers: Prepare food bags for Day Shelter clients. Volunteers needed Monday- Friday for three hour shifts between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Warming Center Overnight Volunteers: On-call volunteers are needed during the cold weather. Help prepare meals, play board games, and socialize with adults staying overnight at the Warming Center due to inclement weather conditions.  Shifts available: 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. or 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. 

Data Entry Volunteers: Strong computer skills and attention to detail required.  Monday through Friday shifts with flexible schedules are available.

Kitchen Assistants at Aspen Center for Child Development: Help prepare meals, clean kitchen, and do dishes. Monday through Friday coverage needed.

Clothing Bank: Volunteers needed to help receiving donations and sorting clothes. Monday through Saturday: 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Food Recorders: Check food vouchers and help clients select available food. Monday through Friday, various shifts available.

Food Pantry Assistants: Enter client information into the database at the pantry work station, help receive and weigh food donations, mark out bar codes, and stock shelves. Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Pantry-Data Entry: Need one additional person per shift to accurately input client voucher information into ETO (Efforts-to-Outcomes) system. Other duties include filling orders on Food Pantry line. Friday: 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Kitchen Assistants: Volunteers are needed to help with lunch preparation and service, dish washing, and cleaning.  Monday through Friday, morning through early afternoon shifts available.

Receptionists: Answer phones, greet clients, check in visitors for services, and help with miscellaneous clerical tasks. Must have experience, a professional demeanor, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Four hour shifts available most weekdays.

Warming Center
(temporary emergency shelter in severe winter weather)

Staff and volunteers provide food vouchers, rent and utility assistance, local transportation, minor medical prescriptions, emergency shelter referrals, budget counseling, and agency information. The Volunteer Program Office coordinates volunteer needs for all facilities. Donations of cash and gift cards are accepted at this facility.
Hours 8:00 to 4:00 weekdays.
Child Care Center

High-quality childcare and preschool education is provided for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Fees based on parent income. Capacity is 60 children. Qualistar certified.
