Empty Bowls

The 13th annual Empty Bowls is taking place on Saturday, March 19th, 2016. Don't miss this beloved and important event to feed the hungry in our community.

About Empty Bowls

Empty Bowls is the OUR Center's signature fundraiser designed to raise awareness and to help feed the hungry in our community. All proceeds will benefit the OUR Center's food program.

Attendees select a unique, hand-made bowl made by a local artist, and select two types of soup from area restaurants and caterers. They then get to enjoy a meal with family and friends—the bowl is theirs to keep as a reminder of those who face hunger every day.

How Can you Help?

  • Buy a ticket, or several
  • Provide soup or bread for the meal
  • Volunteer at the event

Tickets will be available at the OUR Center, on our web site, and at Crackpots Studio.

Or, come to our office to purchase tickets through Friday, March 18 at 4 p.m.

History of Empty Bowls

In 1990 a high school art teacher in Michigan helped his students solve a problem. They were searching for a way to raise funds to support a food drive. What evolved was a class project to make ceramic bowls for a fundraising meal. Guests were served a simple meal of soup and bread, and were invited to keep the bowl as a reminder of hunger in the world.

By the following year the originators had developed this concept in Empty Bowls, a project to provide support for food banks, soup kitchens, and other organizations that fight hunger. Since then Empty Bowls events have been held throughout the world, and millions of dollars have been raised to combat hunger.

Your ticket purchase will provide a hot, nutritious meal for 10 people at the OUR Center. All proceeds stay in the greater Longmont area.
