Empty Bowls
Mark your calendar for the 9th Annual Empty Bowls - Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Longmont High School.

Empty Bowls is the OUR Center's signature fundraiser designed to raise awareness and to help feed the hungry in our community. All proceeds will benefit the OUR Center's food program.

Attendees select a unique, hand-made bowl made by a local artist, and select two types of soup from area restaurants and caterers. They then get to enjoy a meal with family and friends—the bowl is theirs to keep as a reminder of those who face hunger every day.

How Can you Help?

  • Become an Empty Bowls Sponsor - See below for information about a special incentive!
  • Buy a ticket, or several
  • Provide soup or bread for the meal
  • Make a bowl to donate or host a party at Crackpots or a similar ceramics studio
  • Volunteer at the event

Tickets and Sponsorships:

Tickets are available at the OUR Center, on our web site (click blue button at the top of this page), and at Crackpots Studio.

Sponsorships from $100 to $2,500 are also available now and include tickets and recognition.

This year, we are offering special incentives for sponsors! Any sponsor who refers others who also become Empty Bowls sponsors will receive additional tickets on top of those already included in their packages. That means referring sponsors can share this fun event with even more of their friends, families, and colleagues than they can with their sponsorship alone. Sponsorships may be purchased at the OUR Center or on our web site (again, click the blue button at the top of this page).

Or, to mail a check for tickets or sponsorships, please make it out to the OUR Center send to:

303 Atwood Street

Attn: Development Office

All proceeds of Empty Bowls benefit the food program of the OUR Center.

For more information on any aspect of the event, please contact Elaine 303-772-5529 Ext. 224 / elaine@ourcenter.org. Sponsors interested in the incentive, please also contact Elaine to provide information for your referral.

History of Empty Bowls

In 1990 a high school art teacher in Michigan helped his students solve a problem. They were searching for a way to raise funds to support a food drive. What evolved was a class project to make ceramic bowls for a fundraising meal. Guests were served a simple meal of soup and bread, and were invited to keep the bowl as a reminder of hunger in the world.

By the following year the originators had developed this concept in Empty Bowls, a project to provide support for food banks, soup kitchens, and other organizations that fight hunger. Since then Empty Bowls events have been held throughout the world, and millions of dollars have been raised to combat hunger.

Your ticket purchase will provide a hot, nutritious meal for 12 people at the OUR Center. All proceeds stay in the greater Longmont area.
